He may have taken part in Rugby World Cup finals and huge Six Nations showdowns, but Eddie Jones has revealed the greatest sporting event he’s ever been to was NOT at one of those famous tournaments.

In fact, his greatest ever sporting event wasn’t even a game of rugby!

The England coach joined Alan Brazil and Ally McCoist in the talkSPORT studios on Thursday morning to promote his new autobiography, My Life and Rugby, and he was quizzed on various topics including his early coaching career, the 2019 World Cup and his relationship with Man City manager Pep Guardiola.

And while discussing football, Jones mentioned the last game he watched was Liverpool’s famous defeat of Barcelona in last season’s Champions League semi-finals – before adding that it was the best sporting event he’s ever seen.

The Reds came back from a 3-0 loss at Camp Nou to book their place in the European Cup final, winning 4-0 on one of the most incredible Anfield nights ever.

Divock Origi and Georginio Wijnaldum each scored a brace to down Barca, who were left shell-shocked by Jurgen Klopp’s remarkable team.

Those who made it to Anfield that night will never forget it, and Jones will forever be grateful to be part of that lucky group.
